Hi, today i noticed my washers for the headlights have stopped. There is no pump noise, or voltage drop. My windscreen washers are fine, can anyone shed any light on this problem, like where is the fuse?, is it independantly fused?, as the haynes coupe manual is (as always) a joke.

BTDT.
I had it on my 3B coupe, which has a separate tank with pump for the headlightwashers.
I took out the plastic part inside the wheelarch to reach the tank and it's pump. Checked whether it got power when needed, it did.
Then I took the pump out of the tank (watch out all water is coming out ). I reconnected the pump to the electric and checked whether it would turn when activated, it didn't, it was jammed.
I cleaned the rotary part with carb.cleaner and tapwater. Tested the pump again, it was working again. Did some extra cleaning and testing and it stayed OK. I refitted it and it is still working, half a year later.
All in all 1 hour work.
Succes

ABY cars should have only one tank that is inside the arch. There are 2 pumps. Also a separate relay is used. So probably the pump or the relay is dead.
MY91 3B cars have 2 separate tanks but afaik MY92 on only 1 tank is used.
On the back row of the fuse box. Fourth one from the left. Doesn't have a relay number on the top (at least the brand new one I fitted last week in mine didn't).
Could well be the pump. My windscreen washer pump died without warning a couple of weeks back.

Cheers i will have a look. The mother in law (to be) is sooo gullable with these, over 5 times now, i have caught her out saying something along the linees of "have you seen the scratch above the headlight on the bonnet", and she always goes for a look where i apply the washers- Soaked every time

Today i lost my rag with the car as it cut out on me nearly every time i took my foot off the accelerator and dipped the clutch so this evening i waged war. I removed the ISV and it was bunged up solid, so washed it out with 2 cans of carb cleaner (YUK- The crap inside was bad), and oiled it up, now it doesnt miss a beat . And while i was under the bonnet i decided to tackle the headlight washer problem. Unclipped the wire to the pump and pulsed the pump off my power pack and it worked (soaking me ). So i removed the relay, read the diagram and put a supply across the activator line and nothing. So i technically battered it off the walls and tried it again, Hey presto, it works a treat- lets see how long it takes to fook up again, if it dare . So i am all working (ish) again

Thats how mine was about 2 weeks ago, if you let it warm up in traffic it is ok but today it done my head in. Did you get the testers off Graham, i might be popping over there on Sunday as our lass has to go to a wedding convention with her mate, they wanted me to go LOL. I am fine, my calliper is on its way from america this weekend hopefully so i can get my big brakes on again. And the car other than my ISV problem is running sweet as a nut.
