  • Paint code needed...

So in the boot, after a little mishap many years ago, my label disappeared

So... I ring Audi, order a couple of bits, and then ask them to confirm a paint code from chassis number -which is then not found on the system

The coupe will need a respray, but waiting until summer, but I can;t for the life of me find which colour it is.

It is a VERY dark blue, so dark that someone once said to me:

"Oh I like the blue interior!"

    "Yes it's a blue car"

*steps back and looks for a few moments*

    "Is it?"

It's a 1991 Type 89, the very last of them, manufactured April according to a sticker or the VIN plate ( I forget which). Registered May 1991.

Closest I think it is Royal Blue LA5U, which has the right year on it, and is pretty dark, but the google images I find are rather lighter, but to give you an idea:

    Any other ideas out there?

    Cheers,

    Pete.

Some more info like the VIN WAUZZZ.....MA123456 etc would help.

In the meantime, the only dark blue I can see is "nautic metallic (dark blue)" LY5Z.

True, and now rather embarrassingly I read another thread about eh sticker being duplicated in the Service Schedule I thought I would try and find the original books, which I knew were kicking about somewhere.... Blew the dust off *cough*

So it turns out it is actually LZ5U:

Anyone wanna decode the rest of the options for me

Sorry to have pestered, I have wasted hours on finding this!

And thank you for the replies!

Quick question, why do some people drop the L from the paint code?

L = lacquer = paint = yeh, we know its paint so we don't really need the L.

Still got blue interior, a little faded in places, may try some of that fabric paint at some point to revive it.
