    C4 quattro & C4 fwd Bodyshells - Differences ?

Was just interested to know if there is any, a bit, or a lot of differences between a quattro C4 body shell and a fwd C4 body shell ?

Not thinking of trying to make a quattro out of a fwd drive shell, but just wanted to know all the same.

    Thanks for any information

There must be some differences for the propshoft and rear suspension wishbones etc to go. I do know the fuel tank is a different shape......made out of metal instead of 2wd plastic.

Hey, I'm 8 hrs behind you over here (just 7:50 AM now).

Anyway, I used to think there had to be differences because of the rear suspension but upon further investigation, there are no specific call-outs for quattro vs. fwd on any of the body parts in question. There are call-outs for sedan and avant but nothing for fwd. When full bodies in white were available, there were only two part numbers: Sedan and avant.

AFAIK,the differences is on the rear floor plan.a guys here converted the FWD A6 C5 to 2,7TT Quattro.he needed to cut the rear floor plan from the Quattro Chassis and weled it back on the FWD Chassis.

Thanks Pop for the timely kick in my butt. I was looking at A10Q = quattro (so no differences between sedan and avant). HOWEVER, when I check A100 (non-quattro) we find something else out:

              A100 - non-quattro C4 rear pan PN = 4A0804084

Then I do a PN cross-check and guess what:

A10Q rear pan PN = 4A0804084 (yup, the same).

              Your mileage may vary (YMMV)

Does that mean you can convert a good shell C4 FWD with a donor quattro C4 ???

                cheers

You can convert any shell to quattro if you have donor. Difference is how how much do you need to weld.
As I said in another thread few days back, one of our local forum member did side by side comparison of C4 fwd and quattro - there are differences in mounting points. It's not as easy as B4 quattro swap.

                    Thanks Dave, Pop, and mdz.

Was just curious. Handy to know in case it becomes relevant / pertinent in the future.

While the quattro and FWD rear pans have the same PN, I will have to admit that is not the end of the story, i.e. yes, the suspension mounting points are likely different = serious work to make a quattro from a FWD shell.
