In an attempt to put off replacing the screen, is there a way to polish it back to some sort of decent state? The 'screen on the old girl is looking very much past its best...
Other than that, I'll have to take the plunge, remove all the trim that I've finally got sealed and leak free and start again... which I'm highly non-keen on doing.

What's the problem with your screen, is it mostly chips or scratches? I've clayed mine and it's made a difference but yet to machine polish it (I do have some thin microfibre pads so I can polish it). Yet to have a go as I'm not sure on the proper technique for polishing glass yet but I am sure this can be done
Because I've got it leak free for the first time in my 10 year ownership and the cause of the leaks? A botched windscreen replacement (trims etc.).
If I find an OE Audi glass and did all the trim removal and refitting myself, I'd consider it but for now, I just want to put a plaster on it, rather than remove the whole thing.
If I do get the windscreen replaced, I've also got to get the rust on the leading edge of the roof sorted, again more than likely started by damage caused by the last windscreen...
The current windscreen is fine in all but direct sunlight... so I caould just drive it at night

Plasters are good but they dont last.
Leaks are a problem I am told I only hope when mine comes back to is leak free.
There is a glass polishing compound called CERIUM OXIDE you could try.
