    Removing and re-fitting tail lights

Today my TEROSTAT VII arrived (sealing tape for the rear lights)

I want to tackle this myself possibly tonight instead of taking it down to the garage as there are chances of hail this week and I don't want to risk it (yes in Malta we have Snow's evil cousin hail )

What I want to know is what's the best way of removing the old tail lights knowing they are sealed on?

Cheers lads and happy new year to everyone

What works for me is to heat it gently at the back inside the car with a heat gun (the one you remove paint with at home) Then the seal becomes soft and you can take the lights out. After you undid the nuts that is

      Cheers Patrick sounds easy enough.

Got a heated blower I use to dry the car that should do the trick or I can use a hairdryer

The old stuff can be cleaned off with a solvent and plastic scraper. Make sure you maintain a constant thickness of cord when you re-fit.

Would brake cleaner be good enough or do you need silicone remover?

I've used brake and/or carb cleaner in the past...

I found that a spark plug gap tester on the thinnest setting was ideal to slide into place to remove the lights, then cleaned the old residue off with autoglym tar remover. Worked a treat and left no marks

Make sure you get ALL the nuts off, I've seen 2 nuts on one stud on an avant I was stripping for parts, thought I'd got them all off and started tugging, it did not end well..
