Hi guys, I got rear ended last night a low speed on a snowy road, the rear bumper, tailgate and reflector plate are toast but I am trying to work out if the chassis has been affected. Would anyone be able to post some pictures of their rear door shuts? Particularly from the door handle down.
Hate it when that happens Ie some Pr*ck who can't drive.
What does your boot floor look like.If it's intact ie not bent rippled in any way you should be ok. Only if your boot floor is extensively bent should you worry.Roof line is another give away.Whats yours like? Door shuts should be even all the way down.

My suspicions have been confirmed. The boot floor is distorted, not sure how badly but the spare wheel has is stuck in the wheel well. The idiot driving the MK4Golf behind me claimed that because he had snow tyres he didn't need chains! I pointed out that a new tyre like mine has 8mm tread and his were just about 3mm. Apparently it was my fault and he left enough distance to brake!!!!!
I will await the insurance company's assessment and go from there.
177,000kms, 2 owners from new prior to me, by no means mint but certainly well cared for and very up and together mechanically, having spent somewhere in the region of 5k over the last 9 months getting her back into shape following a 5 year lay-up period.

BS. His fault. Apparently he was following too close for the conditions (and his sh1tty tyres) had NOT left enough distance to STOP. (He had distance to brake, just not to STOP without slamming into you). He is a complete idiot.
How's your neck? Your back? Hurts right? Headaches right?

This is RS2? Very sorry to hear this. My S2 coupe was also hit by an idiot in a Golf, written off and i still haven't got over losing this car. As said above don't let insurers take your car away, keep it on your property and make them some and see the damage.
The more I think about it the more this guy has stuck his foot in his mouth... He was either too close and distracted, his tyres too worn to be effective as winters will brake a car quicker than a car with summer tyres (20 metres quicker) at 45mph on snow or too fast for the conditions.

The conditions were very very snowy, I had driven 110km's in these conditions over 2 mountain passes. My car is fitted with 205 55 R16 Nokian WRA3's new 3000kms ago. I was bumbling along perfectly in control and happy until the inevitable happened.
That is horrible, I got rear ended last year by somebody who apparently thought I was going to drive onto a roundabout with cars already on it
You might be lucky, my spare wheel was jammed, but just sheet metal in the spare wheel well, bootlid and bumper, depends on the shape of the front of the car that hit you and how hard it hit you.
I am against false whiplash claims, however based on what insurance companies value cars at, and a refusal to repair, it could be fair recompense.
I was able to get payment in lieu for repairs and no write off marker. They would not fix it, or give me much for the car.
