2k is a fair price for a good respray......
not sure howe much arch flaring costs but £2400 doesnt seem extortionate.
A guy I know had his M3 cabrio done and it cost him £2500 for a pukka glass out job (not inc engine bay)Comment

UK prices are CRAZY !!!
You can get a full respray for 1500-1800 EUROS done over here for a first class top quality job ! Heck, even the Porsche dealership gets some of their cars done there if they have too much work in their own in-house bodyshop !
Ok, granted, their location sucks, they don't have a website and they work in a converted shed and they look like they're clay miners
but wow, do they do a hell of a job when they respray !

I would'nt pay less than £2k for a full respray and would expect a "good" one to be over £3k... IMO.

The respray on my UR is £4K for a full exterior/interior/underneath job. The carbon/kevlar panels add a bit to the price though. These guy usually do Aston Martins for which they charge 7-10K. They are based just outside Bedford. PM me for details.Originally posted by ukrs2i am based in the BEDFORDSHIRE and am looking to have a full respray done on my s2coupe, would be nice to have some recomendations of people who are known for good work.
the whole car EXCLUDING the engine bay needs to be done, i want all the glass out, door and boot shuts painted. job has to be A1.

Good resprays are down to prep work, lots of it, and hours cost money. I have a mate with a body shop and he would do me a respray for a few hundred quid if thats all i had but it would look a few hundred quid!
When i painted my golf in my days as a body shop tech, the prep took 3 months worth of evenings. That added up to about 3.5k with materials, obviously i didn't pay myself but the car looked stunning.Ragusa Coupe gone!

I've been quoted 1-1.5k for a respray from a guy who specialises in respraying porsches and merc's, i've seen the work and it's top notch.
The trick is in the prep work as somebody stated below.Comment

You mean above right?Originally posted by JamoThe trick is in the prep work as somebody stated below.
To keep on topic the whole thing of spraying is vey subjective. Speaking from personal experience, the majority of quotes I have had in the past where always >2k.
If you can do some of the prep work yourself you can help keep the costs down and the risk of having trim broken or screws and such not being refitted.Comment

@ Jamo and Nuvo. Exactly! Most people (well me) would to hand their car over, in good condition and get it back concourse. That means filling and sanding every bump and blemish and getting it perferct. Of course that costs money, but what's the point in a respray if it isn't.
My expectations would be very high.
If you did you own prep and just wanted it blown over that is a different story and not £2000+...

If i did my own prep i.e removing lights, sunroof, door locks etc i can knock about 350 quid off the bill. However with work the way it is at the moment i probably wont have the time. At the end of the day they came across as being the most capable of acheiving what i want so we'll have to wait and see. Also they're local to me which is a bonus if i do have any problems.Old Stuff Reborn.Comment

Best advise anyone gave me about garages is to trust your gut feeling, if you ain't happy take it somewhere else. But if you get a good vibe and they don't seem mental or too good to be true, they should be ok.Ragusa Coupe gone!
