Need to retrofit side repeaters to CQ20v

I've imported a CQ20v into Finland and when I went for my first Katsastus/MOT today I failed because I need to retrofit side repeaters. I can't find any info anywhere online about doing this. I'm sure I will manage if I have to make it up as I go along but instructions from someone who has done it would be useful.

Actually it would even be useful if someone would be decent enough to measure their S2 wing and tell me where the side repeater should go. I'd rather have them in the right place than somewhere that doesn't look quite right.

I was kind of considering removing the audi badges from the trim and fitting them there. Thoughts?

The wings come without the holes, I had to do the ones on my coupe.

There's a plug on the main headlight loom for the repeater wire to plug into. somewhere round the back of the headlight. Easiest would be to get a pair of repeater looms (just 2 wires with a plug at one end and the bulb holder at the other.
You can get pairs of repeaters off ebay cheap, the oval clear ones look nice. Or I've got a pair of standard ones you can have somewhere.

Only Coupes made for Italy had from factory fitted side repeaters. Had one couple of years ago.

John, did you just drill and then apply a bit of paint to seal the edges?

This will give you an idea about the factory S2 location (C4s were lower)

If you don't want to risk damaging the paintwork on the wing, you could go for the audi badge location on the lower trim. I've done this and it looks ok with the oval, clear repeaters you can get from eBay. Either way easy enough to retro fit.

Great info, thanks. I wonder if my car is "plug and play" if I get OEM wiring, or whether should just pick up a couple of bulb holders and create my own wiring?

That's what I was thinking but I can't find any pictures of it having been done. Do you have any you could show me please mate?

my spare A4 lenses. I think these could work nicely.

I'm not sure I have any pics, but can have a look for you. It was easy, I just took the badge off and drilled though the trim and wing. From memory I used a round file to open up the hole and then routed the old indicator wiring down to the new posistion. The lamp holder used double sided foam tape to locate it, so it just sticks into place.

Hi Noel, the A4 repeaters would look good, they certainly did on your red 16v coupe. Sticking with the original style might be best as you only need to cut a few circles rather than ovals which will take a bit more time and fettling. Simplicity and originality is a good thing.

When cutting the larger holes, I think you would see cleaner results using one of these. I *think* 24mm is the correct size, but you'd need to get this confirmed (I'd do it myself if the car was close by).

If you use a hole cutter you must do it from the inside or the larger part of the cutter will leave a mark on the paint that the indicator wont hide.
