where is the point of that? will you have 3hp more because you don't have filter and direct inlet of air in turbo?

Some would say that this way you are compensating the pressure loss in the system. Something like a NACA duct but with a turbo. Does RAM-Air ring a bell?

The car is only used on the drag strip if I understand correctly and it seems normal for a lot of those cars to run with out a filter. Nice cosmetic work IMO.
