Jammy ******, no rental fee and gas at cost! Damn, I pay through my orifice for my gas.

Another thing you should consider is getting a good selection of gas lenses instead of the standard gas collets, you can get away with alot more tungsten stick out and better gas coverage, all makes life easier in a tight spot.

        I demand a fabrication section

are the lenses a TIG only thing? Been struggling with MIG getting in to some tight angles on a tubular fabrication

AFAIK gas lenses are only a TIG thing, I use one and they do make a difference. As for gas I bought one of these

            http://www.albeegascylinders.com/

I think the bottle cost £125 which was full and comes with a reg, this is then yours for life. When it's empty you take it back and swap it for a full one for about £40, there are no rental charge. For home use where you are not using a lot of gas it's perfect.

That's a nice way of working it, £40 is cheap for a refill too

So have you dropped the cash on a TIG yet or are you still thinking it through?

I'm going to ignore those gas prices as im getting properly hosed by the local BOC!

Those gas lense's are for TIG only, well worth the money though.

How do we get a fabrication section sorted then!?! I have a side project for the S2 and there will be loads more that I think deserve there own little thread.

haha, no not yet as I have just spent all my cash on some flights to Vancouver for snowboarding in February!

My beady eyes are peeled for a good deal on the bay though

I would imagine the bottles you are getting from BOC are much bigger than these though? These are really aimed at the DIY market where you only use the welder maybe once a month.

I've been using BOC's pureshield Argon bottle size Y. Its £56.98 a refill, plus you have to pay the delivery charge from BOC to the agents even if you collect it yourself!?£! which is £13.05 then you add the dreaded 20%. 84 quid! Then the yearly rental of £83.50 + VAT its a bloody dear do for a bit wind out the torch!

Has anyone tried those cheap AC DC TIG's on ebay? I understand the quality can't be the same as 4x expencier machine, but does they do the job?
