You will find DC TIG is pretty easy on steel/stainless, so long as you have a steady hand and manage the output/temps. AC on alloys is a different kettle of fish unless it's well prepped and you have something to practice on first. My first two bottles of gas were used in a couple of weeks, it get's expensive at £90 a fill!!

Did you know you can transfer the warranty on the RTech units?

A friend has just bought one of these, now granted it's not cheap but for the spec it's amazing value. Had my first go at welding ali the other day and I'm now trying to think of things I can sell to fund the purchase!

I tried out the R-Tech aftersales today after I managed to damage the gas inlet fitting on the back of my TIG

All I can say is that they live up to their reputation and I am so glad I bought one of these from a UK company - they couldn't be more helpful and even sent me an exploded view of the machine and instructions on how to fit a new gas valve fitting

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend R-Tech - an excellent value machine and even better UK sales & support.

Funny enough I brought 200amp Ac/Dc welder from them last week.

Slight problem with delivery, but got it on Saturday and I must say very impressed thus far.

Lots of practice needed.. all good fun

Anyway I've finally bought one, I went for the 200a R-Tech AC-DC set. Seems great so far, but welding aluminium is hard! I can see me getting through a lot of gas practicing over the next few weeks!

I keep eyeing up the AC/DC sets. Are you using a pedal with the ally? Apparently they can make big difference, I guess they take a bit of getting used to
