  • DIY valve spring compressor bench

So I always hated the cylinder head valve pring jobs. Then I saw a pic of a compressor bench and remember a odd tool my pops gave me some time ago. I was planning to do some kind of light press tool out of it. It's a old paint can tool, popably it was designed to close the paint can top cover in paint stores.

I removed the cover pressure plate and made a movable table on the lover part, big enough for a AAN head. It's fully adjustable in every direction. You can tighten the cam so the spring pressure doesn't lift it up when you relese the cam. Tadaa, here is a valve spring compressor bench. It's almost fun to remove valves and springs with this now.

It looks almost like this factory made bench.

Ooh, I was thinking what you mean Mike, how is my head of, but then I realised that you mean the engine cylinder head.

Like I told in my project thread, the valvejob was **** in my head. Burnt a valve twice. It was made for a N/A engine. Too narrow contact surface between the valves and seat rings, like 1mm. It doesn't hold up in a turbo engine. This is my spare head, and all valves are stock.

Always like to see unused or obsolete equipment re-purposed. Nice one there.
