Mine does the same. makes a nice squeking noise every now and then. I just turn mineup to 4 or open the windows and listen to the noise of the turbo blowing hard

Dammit I think there's another job for me to add to the list. I've been solving it (the noisy fan) by turning the stereo up. It'd be nice to listen to the turbo, but a lot of my driving is done in town and traffic. Besides it's quite therapeutic to dig out the Guns 'n' Roses, find My Michelle and give the volume a twist:

i have same problem (fan noise not coke), as everyone else i put it onto speed 3.

If anyone finds a quick solution (i dunno, spray wd 40 down the vents or something) let me know

WD40 etc didn't work and the fan motor is a TOTAL COW to swap (air con avant) i mean a real cow to swap. Really its a dash out job to do, but if you get a second person to pull on the dash to the point of breaking it in two, then the motor CAN be changed without removing the dash. one bitch of a job.

Looks like the S2 fan is not the best, mine grumbles like a beast unless on 3 or 4 speed, think I'll get a quote on a new one as I dont want to replace with a unknow secondhand.

Anyone got a price for new??

Did you ever get round to that "How To?"

My fan is making a hell of a racket - usual symptoms compared to other S2's here...noisy on speed 1 & 2 and gets better the faster you want the fan to turn.

It now appears that of the three central vents in the centre console, air is really only coming out of the RHS one.



The general consensus would appear to be that if the fan is making a racket, it needs lubing? Is that correct?

Is there not another way to lube the system?

F**k taking the dash out.

only does 15 mpg going to work and back, I use over a gallon a day!

LOL!!! I use 3 gallons a day!! But it's a hell of a way to use 3 gallons!!!

Ok, not at the moment - when I get back into Kitty I will - but for now I can compete with you for "economy" because I am driving Mavis the Micra, easy 45-50mpg, and 50 miles is exactly what I do - it's just no fun though...
