Is the leak from the chassis of the compressor itself, or from the front near the clutch?

difficult to say as its covered the whole side of the unit - i guess blown by the through-draft

A Mercedes part is identical (90's S Class), made by Denso...

Straight fit once you have swapped the manifold from your old 3B unit and cut the old wire off and crimped on a suitable female bullet plug...

Brand new gorgeousness... no idea why they don't make the Audi version. It's the same...
