Where the heck is my pollen filter

Just picked up a new pollen filter as part of my service, just gone to fit it, but cant find the old one! I assume a 93 coupe will have one?

I opened up the bonnet, and lifted the plastic trim below the windscreen, and all i saw was a plastic grate over the intake?????

My MY93 2.8 coupe was supposed to have one, but when I lifted the cover I only found the grill, which def cannot house a filter.

My MY95 S2 has a different fresh air intake and does have a filter, so I now realise that one was never factory fitted to my 2.8

      Cheers n

                One for the archives.

Pictures of pollen filter and it's housing. This pollen filter was replaced exactly 13 months ago and is often an overlooked item for servicing.

Remove passenger side wiper arm, turn the three slotted plastic screwheads and remove the passenger side air intake cover. Take the opportunity to clean all the crap out from around the filters housing whilst you are in there. Old filter slides out from the front (being careful not to drop crap down into the blower fan housing.

Pollen filter is Audi part number 8A0 819 439 - made by Mann,
Mann's own part number is CU 3955.

I was thinking he needs new strut brace bolts. I got new ones for mine, but only 'cause I lost the old ones when my car was in bits for months.

Wasn't that expensive from the dealers TBH matey, £5.40 inc VAT.

Always amazes me how much stronger the blower is on any setting after just having changed the pollen filter, it's like having another two settings
