  • Air direction selector not working

1995 S2 coupe ABY with aircon manual control. RHD

    Air direction selector not working.

When selecting the front vents for air to come out it does.

When moving the selector to the next position air down it does not quite reach the position. Air is still coming out of the front vents, no air coming out of any other vent. The selector will not move any further than is shown in the photo.

I am unable to select the windscreen demister.

The complete system was replaced a few years ago and it worked. Only recently it has just stopped.

I can see one cable and it has a green clamp on it and its moving.

Can anybody advise how to fix this.

Just checked and it looks clear.

Good point I will strap them out the way you never know they can cause an issue.

I had this, but as part of replacing the heater matrix, I obviously disconnected everything, and put it all back, nothing seemed amiss at the time. I replaced foam as well.

Once back together it all worked flawlessly, well for ~6 months and then something went 'twang' again back to almost square one. Mine is slightly different, after too much force because it was stuck, and a twang, I can switch to screen mostly fine, but feet and face are essentially the same.

From memory there are three cables that go from the controls to levers on the air box. They are only held on with spring clips
and likely one has popped off.
If you remove the lower trim that the gear change sits in and crawl your head in, you can just see where they connect to the box.

newsh you hit the nail on the head.

I removed the radio and got my hand to all the linkages just to see they moved. they did. operated the control knob and hey presto everything worked.

Radio back in and the vent control is still working

Think one usb endoscopes is a good idea.

Still waiting for delivery of the rear panel mounting clips. Once I have them everything can go beck together.
