    manual AC -> Klimatronic

    Hey!

    Today i collected everything i need to switch from manual AC to automatic AC. The problem is, the parts were from a car with no passenger airbag, and i have the pass. airbag. The place behind the dash is very limited. Am i going to fit all that stuff in? I took the glovebox too.

    Any BTDT?

    Ooow - good luck with that - thats a job I would like to do on mine - to make it the only RHD S2 with proper aircon - well the only one I know of.

    Need the compressor from LHD and all the loom and relay gubbins - which might need converted to RHD because of cable topology, lengths and such dull stuff.

    Probably a dashboard out job to do it properly in both our cases... I'll prolly be dead before I get a chance to think it all thru.

      Manual to Climatronic.....

      Get the American Bentley Manual and see where the components are fitted in the CQ20V cars that were sold there.
      Should help.

        It is absolutely a dashboard out job, but that is a joke. The problem is, that if you want to have all the klimatronic diagnostics working, you gotta connect something like 12 wires to the original loom, inculding wires that go into the ECU, and install a sensor in a engine water line. +, some klimatronic ecu-s work only with compressors that have 2 more sensors on them. If you jut want to have the cool display instead of the ugly knobs, you are done in 4 hours.

            No. It works allright with only the 2 temp sensors (one on dash, on on the roof) connected.

                  Yesterday was a busy day.

                  I started here:

                  oh yes

                  my friend putting the "new" klimabox in

                  then spent about 5 hours thinking, searching thru wiring schematics, finding wires in the stock loom, disassembling donor loom, and connecting stuff. everything works now, including diagnostic stuff and all klimacodes. now the rebuilding of the dash begins.

                              Sorry, that was a quote from the film "Back to the Future"... The Flux capacitor was the thing that enabled time travel. Your picture of your car reminded me of the interior of the DeLorean in that film with all the time travel kit in it
