@ Dan s2 coupe: you can check if the pump runs by getting a mate to turn the ignition on and you stand at the engine, you can hear the pump run for a few seconds!
That unfortunately doesn't tell you if the impeller is turning. The pump has a magnetic clutch - if the engine has ever been run with no coolant additive, rust particles may have reached the rotor and clogged it.
The only conclusive test requires 12V and a bucket of water.

You can also try the pump in it's place by supplying 12 volt with a longer wiring and two female spades connectors.
You can see if it's working on the top of the coolant resorvoir return little pipeline engine off ofcourse.

Yup. On the 10Vs that use the pump (MB, 1B, MC) you can put the connector from the injector cooling fan on the pump and short the wastegate temperature sender to earth.
