My aircon has decided to pack up working and my guess is that it probably just needs a top up... The local garage suggested visiting KwikFit believe it or not as they charge just £45 for a regas...

Anyway, I've just spent an housr with them and it turns out the chap can't find the regas valve/port on the car. Can anyone pls advise where this is located?

He found a red valve loacated just under the rad cowling which he thought is for emtpying the system. Would be grateful for any advice on the matter.

    Cheers

If i remember rightly its on the top of the compressor housing, if you have an aux radiator then it will probably block sight of it...

When I had mine done that was where it was plugged into too. There's a red and green valve.

However, if you've got the original aircon from the 3B with the good old-fashioned CFC-containing gas (or even if its been R134 converted), there is only 1 valve for draining and re-gassing. Been there.

How will I know if it's just a one valve setup?

The car is a 1994 RS2 with R134g written on one of the hoses and sticker under the bonnet?

                  cheers,

Lloyd has an RS2 so it shouldn't apply.

My mate is an aircon tech, he sells the aircon machines to aircon companies and trains them.

He used the one on the rail by the rad with no problems.

OK, quick update. Went back to Kwikfit. Tech had a look but decided against doing the job as he still wasn't confident of the valving. Gr8, another housr wasted....

Can anyone confirm is the low pressure valve in question, on the A/c pump is the one near the rear of the pump facing approx towards the floor with a black aluminium cap on it. about 12 mm in diameter?

Lloyd this is time to go to an audi dealer or a recommended local AC specialist who is prepared to discuss job over the phone.

I got told a load of b*ll*cks recently by the local garage who are not AC experts. 'Could not fill the system as there was a blockage etc'. No such issues at Harrogate Audi.
