Fan after run problems

I think it's an interesting question. Most of us have assumed it is to draw heat away from the turbo and head on shut down but the ambient temperatures required to support enough of a buildup of heat to trip the switch are high to say the least. It would also be a life saver in an overheating situation assuming the the thing that caused it in the first place was not a coolant leak. I think the most likely intended use is the former, but the reality is that most of us in Europe rarely experience the ambient temperatures required to ever trip it. I know there are people on the Quattroworld forum who report theirs kicking in from time to time.Comment

It does kick here in Italy (I'm leaving northeast)
All you need it's a good trash on an alp pass and wait few minutes once you stop....

On my ABY the radiator fan and coolant motor together take 13 amps in after-run mode.
That means a 10 min. after-run cycle consumes just over 3% of your battery capacity which is replenished the next time you run the engine.
That's approx. 2.2Ah
If you assume you need 50% battery capacity left to start the car that means you can have at least 15 after-run cycles without running the engine in between and still start the car.

I'm not arguing on the 13amps in after-run mode....
I'm wandering if you tried to check the amps on your battery before and after the cycle, I'm pretty sure you'll find it drained more then 3% of your battery capacity.
Anyway as you said "some" suggested to bridge the sensor but you did'nt yourself.
I suggest not for the above reason because I tried personally and encounter the issue.
now all we need it's a volunteer to try and bridge the sensor and see who's right innit?
