Audi S2: Heater not blowing any heat - checked fault codes -help

    Hello

My car has stopped blowing heat in the car... regardless max or min on the clima controll.

Look down to my third update

I hope so badly I dont have to take out the dash..

Update 1 : Got these fault codes when checking clima controll channel 1

15.7 Air Flow Flap, sporadic block -checked, working.

    13.7 Footwell/Defroster Flap, sporadic block

08.5 Temperature Regulator Flap, static block (*08.5) - checked! motor turns lever!

05.3 Outside Air (Ambient) Temperature Sensor, front, sporadic open

Update 2: When I adjust the temp. on the climate from low to high and back down the motor turn and rotate the lever. So now I dont think that is the problem.

    Update 3 27/9:

I have found out that the problem is when I adjust the temperature nothing happens. I have left it on "hi" for a month and suddenly it started putting out real good heat..

But it will not adjust the temperature down again when I set it to for example 21,5 degrees.

Today it suddenly decided to go down to 21,5 degrees, but now I cant make it go up or down again

So, when I adjust the temperature the signal have to go to a motor ? That can be my problem I think ??????

Need to fix this now, winter is coming real soon here in Norway

I had the same with mine once- have you checked the coolant level in the expansion tank?
Mine was above the Min mark, but wouldn't blow hot.

    Sometimes the most obvious......

No, but I have taken of the pipes and checked that the water goes through the matrix.

Im thinking it can be one of the motors for the flaps, but when I turn the system on and adjust from low to high and from high to low temp. I can hear some motors running, but I cant see anything move on either side. And I can hear a short sound repeat 2-3 times after that, maybe something is stuck ?? (I have taken of the glovebox and the tray under the steering wheel)

Get the engine warm, get a piece of hose or pipe big enough to cover the expansion cap hole. Blow into the expansion bottle and open the bleed nipple on radiator and matrix hose. When just coolant comes out, with no air in it shut bleed nipples. These cars can airlock real bad in my experience.

Thanks for your response, but as long as I have these fault codes..I dont think its problem with air in the system??

I have similar problems, just replace a 5 yrs old rad and could not believe the cal build up only ever run with G12

Biggest problem now with our climate boxes is the foam disintegration needs to be address at some time

I have flushed my heater with a pump and cleaner circulating for a good time no success, I am going to get it flushed professionally soon see if that works

                      If not dis-assembly of dash

Yes, my bet is on the foam falling off the flaps and jamming them / misdirecting the air.

Thanks, thats a good tip! So at some point in the future the dash must out to clean up all the foam laying around in the system ?

I'd buy a remote USB video camera off eBay like this:

                              http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-5M-US...item20d5cdc249

and push it inside the heater unit through the central outlets.

That way you can determine if the the heater flap is actually moving freely or is blocked with old foam before you have to take the dash out.

If it's not blocked with foam bits you can also see if the temperature motor is actually driving the temperature flap.

                              John
