I'll second that..... had a job keeping the ****** in a straight line with Whiteline on hardest setting. Talk about lift off oversteer , I spun it coming out of the Old Hairpin at Donnington last weekend ( much to the amusement of the following cars ).

Maybe I need to take QR Sports advice and back it off a notch....on the other hand it beats crappy understeer any day.

Oh well - is was just wondering with all you boyz so gleefully ripping out your aircon units what sort of spare parts there are lying around for us sweaty mortals!

@Nick - yikes, that sounds dramatic, definitely not what is wanted! Hope you didn't damage the car?

I must have been having a bit of a senior/blonde moment earlier!!!

I didn't mean adding 56kg to the back = taking 28kg off the front!

28kg off the front would indeed be like adding 28kg to the back (very, very approximately) - but it still amounts to the same balance and the car would be 56kg lighter if you achieve it by removing the weight up front rather than adding it to the rear - I stand by that part of it!

Dan, you can have any part of my A/C when it comes off - but it might not be any better than yours...

AC is a luxury in a 10+yr old car IMHO. as i wrote in an earlier thread, i've removed it in my corrado and it runs MUCH cooler when moving now (temp guage reads 80 odd degrees at 120kph and 30+ degree air temp). i've removed it in the coupe now as well.

HOWEVER, in both cases the primary reason for the removal is broken parts and the frightening cost of replacement of those parts (i haven't even looked to see how much the compressor is for the corrado!) when the compressor still worked, i was very happy to have AC when i drove across new mexico etc...

Also, i think that at 100 odd mph, it's more fuel efficient to use the AC than open the windows

I have replaced most of mine, apart from a leaky compressor, but then i just fill it back up every 6 months! Dead easy when you have the kit at work I would never get rid of it, it is so nice to use on a hot day. And like others have said, its a pleasure in the spring etc to clear steamy windows fast. The air out of my centre vents on a 30 deg day is coming out at -2 degs!!! (it has a problem, but im not complaining!). Fuel consumption, who cares when its doing sub 20mpg anyway, and its hot as hell.

Adding weight to the back is easy! Just drive into a petrol station and fill her up! Every litre weighs 1Kg!

Well I'm gonna get my system re-charged (again) and put some more leak-detection fluid in, I'm convinced it's the compressor again, but we'll find out, and in the meantime I shall remain nicely cool and mist free (especially as I've still not fixed the leak at the back of the car and with all the spring showers, I've got a damp boot at the moment)...

after todays blistering weather....i have decided to keep the air con system in place and not remove as intended. Also considering plumbing aircon into the cold air feed for when not in use.....

After today's blistering weather, I have concluded I can survive these rare hot days (this was the hottest day in May since dirt was new). I'm stripping the aircon out when the engine gets swapped.

Oh yes, and the gearbox, again - I've sh*gged the 2nd gear synchro on this one now!!! The old box is off for a rebuild next week, then this one can have a rebuild when the other one is in the car.

...and I've cracked my second RS2 bumper!!! Hit a bird the other day, it broke the LH side/fog light housing - but I didn't really notice the cracking until this evening.

                    It's only money!!!

I had my aircon refillled and stained with fluorescent stuff and its gone again and there is no visible leak anywhere where I could check it. The only place I couldnt light with the UV was the parts under the dash behind the glovebox. I think its the compressor. I'll have it removed and reconed and if it leaks afterwards I'll give up.
