Boost pipe. Aluminium or not

Just wondering what material is the big black boost pipe from the intercooler to the Intake manifold made of?

My stock pipe is painted black, but the small schratches it got with shiny metal underneath does not seem to corrode.

So was wondering if it might be aluminium?

Anyone got an idea?

There are some welded on brackets IIRC? Look at the size of the welds - if they are small it is probably steel, aluminium welds are a lot bigger.

Weight is also a good thing to check! You will know straight away when you pick up this boost pipe.

Welds on the brackets seem pretty big, dont know about the wieght, its not extremely heavy, but not lightweight either.

hmm, i think mine is alu, its not magnetic, so now its polished high gloss, hope it does not corrode then if it really steel

I thought the 3B one was steel and the ABY was plastic.

my 3b one at home that is black is steel,,, but i pimped a polished one on

Both of mine are steel, ABY in UR, ADU in RS.

Not really, you could always clear laquer it

I need a replacement, as this is where my boost leak is coming from...
