  • Wagner intake fitment

Looking for assistance from someone with a Wagner Intake manifold in their S2. I’m not sure if I’ve messed something up or not.

The front end isn’t assembled but when I close the hood (bonnet) it is contacting the throttle body (even after removing the plastic bit on the front of the hood.

On quick inspection engine is for the most part pushes back on mounts as far as it can go.

    034 engine mounts.

Should there be a spacer between the throttle body, did I screw something up? This is not the throttle body that was on my 3B. I got a bored out unit from Issam (I don’t have my other throttle body handy).

    Thanks for any assistance!

You really need to search the forum... There is tons of info.

Basically it is not plug and play. Your issue will require trimming of the underbonnet plastic trim and possibly massaging the underbonnet metal...

Many other bits of the "kit" don't fit properly.

There are certainly posts from me and Error404 on this subject.

    Good luck!

Edit: just realised 034 engine mounts... probably don't help - nothing 034 makes actually fits properly, or lasts (IMHO)

Thanks, just being lazy as I didn’t find what I was looking for on my phone! I’ll do some more digging from my computer.

I knew I needed to trim the plastic piece but I pulled it off completely.

You can machine down your engine mounts they look not oem? Also you will need bigger subframe spacers if you do go this route. All best Michael

There’s a long sticky post about this somewhere on here

Your engine mounts do look tall..

There are some copies around of the Wagner IM, these are taller and people have struggled to get them to work.

Thanks everyone - I did eventually find a couple of threads on the subject. I got my manifold directly from Wagner so it better be authentic!!

I’ll do some measuring on my mounts as well.

              Probably authentic then!

Check your gearbox mounts as well, cos when the back goes down the front comes up.

I could take pics of how mine sits with stock throttle body but I’m not home at the mo (and neither is the car!)

I bought the 034 motor mounts for my RS2 years back and they failed within a couple months. Went back to OEM and they've been fine ever since.

I think the best example of what to fettle with on the Wagner IM is in Alex's Cq tidy up thread. *Disclaimer: seeing his work may make you open your wallet.

Thanks I have a look, I am leaning toward having an extension machined. I’ll have to look at my throttle cable length.
