  • Are these removable?

Hi all, I want to remove these and get new ones made, is it possible to remove them? I'm talking about the threads for the MAF bolts.

    Thanks.

I think they are set into the plastic at manufacturing. If the threads are damaged you could clean with a tap or maybe drill out and use a helicoil insert if there is enough metal surrounding the threads?

That would make sense. Will see what others think. But drilling out and using bolt extractors might work, thanks.

What's the problem with the threads? Are the bolts stuck in or broken off?

One is full of corrosion, second has a broken bolt inside.

Use a tap to clean the corrosion, if you don't have one grind a long smooth notch into the side of bolt that's the correct thread to make a thread chasing bolt.

Use a reverse cutting bit to try drilling out the snap bolt, normally, it'll get hot and bite winding the snapped stub out.

If the threads are knackered tap them out to the next over size, it's only brass so should be easy enough to work with.
