Wastegate pipe fitted today!!!!!

Got my wastegate pipe made and fitted up today! My MPG has dropped by 1 already. I love the noise it makes!! Its loud, and i mean loud. I scared the hell out of some old biddy driving her micra when i shot past!! LOL

not yet, at the moment it just comes out under the car pointing at the tarmac.

Does the pipe make any difference to perfromance?, or is it done for the grin factor.

I could do, but its not overly neat, as I didnt really care much. I got my mate to make it an about an hour(inc. taking the downpipe off and on etc). I suspect you would like a nice neat job done on your car to go with the rest of the engine bay Up to you tho. I will take some pictures tomorrow.

There was a wastegate noise when they lifted off but also some squeeking noise on acceleration that I am not sure what it was?

The wastegate made a noise on throttle over run. The squeaking noise I feel is a combination of the unsilenced turbo, ( noise of the vanes going a bit fast ) and the transmission noise.

Nope, the squeaking noise was made by the bypass valve, which I ****** don't know what it was exactly...

Some S1s also had an exhaust bypass valve, i.e. a bypass valve that did recirculate the intake air on throttle lift-off in the turbine, to keep zee turbo spooled. Their sound could be coming from that too. I'm absolutely positive that the sound didn't come from the transmission at all though...
