You can get those poor quality ones from almost every spare part shop, but they usually also sells geniune Bosch, Pierburg etc. ones, of course at a different price. Always use OE MAF's or the same brand as orginal.

i bought a maf off ebay for my neighbours taxi a while back now, at the time they were £30, it came and inside it where the hot wire or whatever its called is on the original was a resistor in its place, didnt work and they sent another 2 before finally refunding me.. and then they doubled in price lol

              MAFs

....or you could buy one of mine

              http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57522

              Both have been working fine.

I hear what Dmitri says and I've put a new RS2 MAF but to be honest, I noticed the best improvement when I cleaned my original MAF in IPA.

As said, only buy new genuine Bosch MAFs.

That goes for anything else VAG too. I'm getting pissed off with diagnosing duff MAFs for friends, only for them to get a cheap replacement, then complain the problem still exists. They seem to doubt me when I get VCDS on it again and tell them, "Yep. You still need a new MAF."

Same with BMW's too. Have diagnosed too much of them with trouble with second hand MAF's.

Best thing for cleaning MAF's is VAG general Brake/clutch cleaner, spray on a load leave for half an hour then spray a load more through and finish off with compressed air. WITH GREAT CARE!!!

Useless, they go out of calibration by themselves.
Any >10 year old MAF is out of calibration and the only thing keeping the car running half-decently is O2 feedback.

Nearly all second hand MAF's are junk, unless they have been tested with VCDS and the values match.
Group 000, 2nd value, 22-24 for ABY ECU, 18-20 for ADU or RS2'd ECU, on hot idle with no vacuum leaks.
Anything higher and it's junk, plain and simple.

                          Completly agree.

The RS2 MAF fitted to my 3B Is still within range,(just) checked with VDCS.

However, I don't trust it and will be fitting a brand new unit regardless prior to remapping.
