Following on from this thread.
As I love all of you, I've measured the OE coil harness, so that anyone who wants to can build one and replace their knackered OE one.
From my inspection, the wiring outside the cover is fine, so if you're on a budget, you can just reuse a portion of the old loom, the old plugs, rubbers etc.
There are 2 wire colours that come from the coils, Black (B) and Yellow (Y). All dims are to the nearest 5cm.
All yellows go to the white plugs and pin position is not important.
I have included pin positions for the black wires on the brown and black plugs, which attach to the POSs.
Treat the lengths as a guide rather than gospel and I would suggest soldering wires to the coils and then rebuilding the coil cover with all wires routed correctly before making your final cut. This will ensure they're spot on. If you are attaching to the OE plugs with short tails, make sure you stagger the connections to make the diameter of the wire as small as possible.
Anyway, here's the dimensions I've measured:-
All Coil Leads
Protection inside of coil cover
Total wire lengths

Anyway, here's the dimensions I've measured:-
All Coil Leads
- Outside Diameter 2.3mm
- B - 100 cm
- B - Brown Pin 1
- Y - 80 cm
- B - 100 cm
- B - Brown Pin 2
- Y - 80 cm
- B - 85 cm
- B - Brown Pin 3
- Y - 60 cm
- B - 95 cm
- B - Black Pin 1
- Y - 55 cm
- B - 80 cm
- B - Black Pin 2
- Y - 40 cm
- 40 cm length
- 6 mm diameter eyelets
- Outside Diameter 4.4mm
- B - 60 cm
- Y - 30 cm
Protection inside of coil cover
- Whole length of the loom.
- I suggest that the internal protection is extended past the cover clamp and then the wires grouped in to colours outside of the coil cover.
- This will maximise protection of the wires and minimise the chances of the wires cracking where they are unprotected and shorting on the cover, which is what I think happened to mine (again).
Total wire lengths
- B ~ 4.6m
- Y ~ 3.2m
