perhaps something is bent? or not assembled correctly... look to c where the frame sits
I have fitted a regulator before....
takes a bit of tweeking to get window to fall into correct position...
    didnt encounter this tho...

check the fitment of the entire frame on the side of door nearest the lock look for fitment and any irregular bends

It's a difficult one to diagnose without it being in front of me to inspect for myself. In the last picture what is the object seen in the gap? Is is the felt buffer for the glass to rest against? Perhaps this has become dislodged in some way?

BTW why are you replacing the regulator in the first place? Did the bowden cable snap? Whenthis happened to me I only replaced the cable and worm drive assy.
Replacing the whole regulator is easier to fit but they don't come cheap.

Hmmm, I'm sure Graham wrote an excellent BTDT now that I think about it. Might be worth searching this forum for some inspiration.

The object you see is what holds the glass to the frame. I purchased the whole frame for easy fitment *DOH* (yes the cable snapped.. then the motor went pop)

        I see no irregular bends.

I think the best way to sort this is to strip it again, strip the other door, and everybodys in my area and see what the difference is.

I wanted to check with this forum to see if this is a known issue, it clearly isnt so I will investigate thurther

Thanx for all your efforts guys, I will let you know how it turns out

          Guys,

spend hours trying to solve this today. So far cost me around 250 squid and still no joy.

same problem as described in previous posts (with pics attached).

Does anyone have good understanding of how the window regulator frame can be adjusted to fix my issue? the window is sitting too far from the door.

          I cannot see anything

Ive not read this all the way thru, but if its too far away at the top, then maybe the spacers that go on the bottom 2 bolts are too thick IE you have too many put back in, if you remove one from each end, surely this should pivot the top toward the door more?

yea it will pivot the top towards the door more. I need the whole window towards the outside of the car not just the top of the window

think i will bite the bullet and take it to stealer

Is there no one local to you up there? Will or someone that could take a look?

well... i descided to bite the bullet and let a dealer take a look.

5 hours, £80 later, they gave me the car back in same condition.

They said water inside door is ok as there is a drain at bottom.

At the same time, the put a 4 inch scratch on my window tint, said it wasnt them and said they would pay for it to be re-tinted.

                  this is preston audi btw..

                  So just to finalise...

                  pay £80

That's just fuppin' great. I knew these fannies couldn't fix it. Did you mean to say they won't replace the tint? If so, if you INSIST that they do, and if not you will report them to Audi UK. That normally helps speed things along.

If you weren't 200+ miles away from me I'd do have a look for you and chances are I'd fix it too.

                    Useless ****s.

                      very useless.

they will pay for a re-tint but not loss of earnings (im a contractor).

Ive calmed down now and had plenty of cigs. so not as angry anymore.

It does genuinly look like the door has structual damage/modification so I will have to use a hammer to get it in place. Alternitavle, use the old frame, and take all bits from new frame. which will be a right pain and i dont think i will attempt it.

Honestly.. prats. They call themselves audi experts

I just went out and had a look in the garage at an old window reg from an ABY. I can see no way of adjusting that gap, unless you have accidentally got some washers between the frame and the door near the lock end.

                          yup.

Im afraid the only options available to me are :

a: apply hammer to actual door. Push mount back 1 or 2cm.
b: migrate all working bits from new frame to old
c: belive the stealer and turn my door into a goldfish bowl

Whats the little gold screw with the torx head that sticks down from the window glass holder?
Is ther in fact a problem with the rubber seal which meands it doesn't reach the glass? rather than the glass being in the wrong position? (just clutching at straws for you..)
Suggest dont do anything till you get the motor and can wind the window up and see if the door actually closes, go gently.. If the glass really is too far in it will hit the seals before the door closes.

                              Hi!

I have new motor now, window goes all way up, closes fine

the screw is to adjust how far the window winds up. if it winds too far up and u breake that triangular rubber in corner, its £180 LOL

by lookin at the other door, its the window and not the rubber seal
