I have done something similar. Ruff up the pedal plastic and the pedal and use some grip fill. Works a treat on mine
accelerator pedal

I had the pedal break off in my old coupe, dog ran out in front of me, I slammed the brakes and the accelerator pedal snapped off
go figure.
I didn't want to simplly just glue the thing on as I liked the springing action.
I now know they aren't that expensive off Marty (£32.96 + the dreaded) but at that time I didn't know of vagparts, so I reattached it with a very small brass hinge. A small hole in the hinge took care of the spring bit sticking up so I also kept the springing action. Sorted.
Lasted 3/4 years like that, then another 6 months until the guy who bought it off me murdered the car
RIP
Sorry about pic below, this is a scanned image of a an old film camera picture (remember those?
) and it took me an hour to find it

Good idea!
I was working on the principle that if it broke again or I didn't like it, I would buy a new pedal anyway.
The madness of it is, the hinge is a molded part of plastic that is BOUND to break eventually.....
That was a poor piece of design by Audi IMO.

Yup: just done thatOriginally posted by Fat Audi 801. Pick broken pedal off floor and scratch head

Just when I thought things were getting nicely sorted too. Oh well *sigh*.

Hee Hee - Annoying isn't it!
Mine is still on now after I glued it on 6 months ago. I will get around to buying a proper replacement as i would like the hinge part to work again.
However if you are not bothered about the hinge rough it up, whack some araldite on it and tie wrap it in place and its (nearly!) as good as new.
Cheers,

well i used two cable ties and kept the spring action done it over a year ago and its still going fine i drilled two holes through the side of the pedal and two holes on the actual arm one either side of the metal rod that comes down i then put cable ties through did them up and you can only see them a little bit no ones ever noticed them and the pedal still works fine,,,Comment

there is a simple way to put a broken one on its place without spending any money and it will be still working correctly ( i mean rotate a bit as it shoud be )
all You need is akku drill and a piece of steel bar. i repeared one and it work perfectly for months now. will try to make some photos soon.
all You have to do is drill thru the side of the pedal and the arm in right place and use steel bar as a new axle to make the pedal rotating again. diameter shoud be about 3-4 mm. the stell bar must sit tight in its place so little hammer will help the operation. the only problem is the position of Your body while working. pain in the ***.Last edited by tom; 30 April 2006, 12:05.Comment
