Maybe your passengers aren't aware of how well an S2 handles in the rain?

            Wish I'd been here sooner!

            To answer the question:

            It's rainwater.

Had this problem on my A4 and found there was a leak at the pollen filter housing another thing that was brought up was the gromit that houses the bonnet cable they can leak as well

Dead leafs blocking the run for the water to go down on top of the Bulk head as well

                Worth a look

I'm sure this has came up before.., if the pollen filter has been out recently check that the flexible rubber connection on the windscreen is lying on top of the black trim piece

With Knight Rider and ericd on this one: through the pollen filter.

Can get quite a stream through there in a good shower or turning a pressure washer on the area if the sealing of the plastic trim (the bit through which the windscreen wiper sticks through) at the bottom of the windscreen isn't sorted.

There should be a little rubber flap (kinda looks like it's part of the windscreen sealant strip) which should sit on top of the trim. Also, underneath the trim should be sealed with sealant strip/cord (same stuff as used round the rear lights) into the metal channel in which the trim sits.

                        Ck.
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

Might be a slight problem here folks, Chris's profile says he has a 91 Coupe, forgive me if I'm wrong but pollen filter didn't come along untill MY93. Could be wrong though.
Bonnet cable grommet is a non-starter too, that's on the other side of the car.

I've had a leak on three of my previous coupes, all of them leaked from the front (hinge side) vertical area of the rubber door seal. The seal had relaxed over time and become a little OAP in it's flexability (a little like me).
Local mechanic at my specialists garage heated the rubber up with a hot air gun. Well thats how he explained it. I'll ask them a get back on this.

Best bet is for you to sit in the car, observe whilst you get a friend to pour a couple of buckets of water over the passenger side.
