Avant roof aerial

Hi all
can anybody tell me when replacing the rear roof mounted aerial base, is there a joint in the aerial wiring within the rear where it can be split and reconnect after fitting a new aerial. Surely you don't have to replace the full length of the coax cable....

Yes, pull out the interior light, the join is there.

I found a break in the centre coax cable which is inside the base aerial, I've managed to solder it in place and it appears to work ok. But where
can you buy a proper base unit if required as its full of small electrical parts
