Not in the car at the moment but I’ve got a pair of Recaro frames with BMW seats on, it’s like sitting in the floor. With separate frames you can fit any bolt-on seat, the thinner the base, the lower you can go.

So what I am looking for is just normal Golf MKIII seats/frames and then modify them?
Does it have to be a "recaro frame" or is it the same on all of them?
Could something like this be used:

Here is the mk3 Golf OMP subframes fitted in my 3b track car, Like Colesy says they are high at the rear so had to chop them down and trim the front edge where the frame hits the 3b tunnel.
Before cutting and drilling subframes

So does "almost" fits into the 3b with not too many mods?
Looks quite okay, compared to the regular seats how lower are they?Comment

Chopping rear brackets with a grinder and drilling new mounting holes.
You need a spacer on the door side to bolt into the caged nut in the slider.
I used the spare piece that was cut off the bottom of the frame with a 12m nut as a spacer (see picture)
Sure you could lower it even more if you modded the front mount but you would need a welder for that.
My 3b is stripped out so tons of headroom.
Had the OMP frame in my ABY with bucket seat and was lower than factory Recaro seat.

Here is a picture showing how you could lower the front even more and help avoid the tunnel bulge.
Sorry for the crappy pictures but thought it might help explain it better
