Battery should be enough and wear a crash helmet while doing the job

The helmet is a *******, you need like 1Amp for a 20mS, to activate the airbag. If it would be that dangerous, nobody vould do the miming job. Disconect the batery to avoid the error for a airbag system, disconect it and dont vorry about it. The static electricity doesnt produce enough heat to start the detonation. Dont tuch the pins on the airbag, just put it away. Nothing will happen. You dont need to wait for an hour that is *******.

My car had a recall to Audi (along with all other S2/RS2 1995/1996 80, A4, A6 & A8 in the uk) to fit an earth lead to the airbag to stop it being set off by static "after" switching the engine off and exiting the car.

Oh, I have had an Audi airbag go off in my face. It wasn't funny and it hurt like HELL. I wasn't removing it or anything like that, rather it did it's job and stopped the steering wheel becoming part of my face.
My advice, be as careful as you possibly can.

I have not taken the airbag off a S2 but did on a mates seat ibiza, i disconnected the battery waited 10 mins then touched the positive terminal (the battery clamp bit) onto the negative terminal of the battery this should drain any excess power out of capacitors etc

Did'nt go off for me and i did'nt need a helmet
