Bought my car with the doorlock broken, but I could lock the car from the other side, it never stands somewhere else than my garage and had other things to do first. Than thieves cut thereselves a way into my neighbours mint e30 Cabrio and I decided to make the lock, so that I can be locked in my garage.
The little lever at the lock cylinder was broken. I would say inferior material. Too light for 17 years of use.
I had some S2 doors in storage, from a 3B. Took the lock and lever from that door, and surprisingly it was made of a stronger material. With the 3B to ABY facelift Audi tried to make the ABY cheaper.
The lockcylinder from the 3B was also different, so I had to use that also. Ended up with changing the little keyplates from the aby to 3B cylinder so that I could use my own key again...
Had to adjust some tools to do this repair without removing the windowmechanism, but everything is working now, with the original key.
The doorpanel was already off, so I installed some RS2 goodies to my Coupe door.
