Either too low or too high rpms will unsettle the car. But I am sure you know that.

Here is something that happened to me. A track with a long straightaway ending in a hairpin right hander. You go from 4th to 2nd for the turn while braking very hard.

I blipped the gas - but not enough. Put it into 2nd; popped the clutch. The effect of motor braking + the weight transfer caused the rear wheels to unweight slightly and also lock up. I lost it. I did a 180 faster that I could blink and parked it backwards in the gravel pit. This was a 911 and they will punish mistakes quicker than an Audi. But the same principle applies.

A broken throttle pedal DOES NOT fail an MOT. If your car gets failed for that then appeal against them. Also the only pedal that can fail is the brake pedal and thats only if it doesnt have a anti-slip pad etc.

£35 from VAGparts, check it out, seems good value to me.

Personally I have no problem with the action of the pedal, my only slight gripe would be that the spring in the pedal makes a slight squeaking noise as you feather the throttle. No amount of grease or WD40 seems to quieten it down.....

Mine's busted too - fell off about 18 months ago, not yet got around to doing anything about it, although Twinkle Toes is finding the pedal is somewhat small for her smaller feet. Might have to bodge a replacment - any recommendations for aftermarket non-bling items that I could bolt on?

You guys must have small feet or be under 6 ft! heh

I can only press the bottom half of the pedal when i'm driving so i didn't even know the pedal was spring loaded!
