We have made an enhancement so that old threads should now link from search results to the correct thread. This is not yet in place for single post links

Anyone got photos of this cheap and cheerful method ?
Do I understand correctly that it allows the OE metal sunroof panel to be bolted into the closed position while all the heavy sliding mechanism is removed ?
I previous deleted a sunroof on a type 85....
First, I removed the sunroof panel skin by grinding away the metalwork underneath it. Then I carefully tack welded the metal panel permanantly into position (about 150 small welds), then removed all the structure and mechanism on the body from inside the car. Finished it using the OEM reinforcing member under the panel. A smal amount of filler to blend, repaint and job done. Much lighter, and no nasty leaks.
