Is this the part number for the cover in Golfboys car or a tailgate upper trim complete "U SHAPE" with a built in space to mount a 3rd brake light ? One piece to fit the rs2 (b4)
I tried a B 5 tailgate trim which has the brakelight built in but it is the completely the wrong profile ?

if I check out the part 8A9 867 975 B (upper) , it says only "trim panel for tail gate". Doesn't mention anything of: "for models with additional brake light". Is that right?
Successive part numbers end up at 8A9 867 975 B BE5, but NLA..
No doubt that the stock item is the right part for the job, I cant help thinking there could be a better solution.
So, I got hold of a B5 tailgate trim with integral brakelight and have used it as the basis for a bespoke B4 version. I have made a first pass mold in GRP and it looks prety good, so far. It still needs some fine tuning but I think it will look great when finished.
It will fit over the existing trim and fix with 2 screws (countersunk) The light unit comes from an RS6 but there are plenty of donor options. I will use some black out tint to cover the glass around the fitting to give the factory finish
Take a look at the first pass mold to give an idea..... Still 2 or 3 more stages to get what I will be happy with...
If there is any interest I am sure I could run a few more copies from the mold..
I have connected this original third brake light
It looks good. Wires were connected to rear left brake light next to battery
Problem appeared: after self check warning light " Brems Licht" show up on display.
How it is possible to remove this failure?
