That's exactley what I did, they were hooked up to a battery which was in turn connected to a 20A charger to ensure a consistant supply. I them put a towel either side of the element and sat on them! It took a good 5mins before I could even tell they were working, and even then I really had to concentrate. I did hook up a multimeter to check current draw but I can't remember what it was, not 5A though.
Cheap Chinese c**p, avoid.

I've not used these myself but I'd be cautious about condemming them if you haven't fitted them as they won't appear to get warm if you just turn them on in free space.
Put them between blankets or duvet and see if they get warm then.
Check that they consume the 5 amps they say they do. If they do that's 70 watts which is more than enough to warm even the coldest bum

DO NOT BUY THOSE!
I bought a set for the A6 and they are s**t, I could get the seat hotter by farting! I'm just glad I checked them before going to all the trouble of fitting them. I'm now looking for some OE one that will fit as I'm sure the A6 ones are NLA too

Yeah I see that now no mention of a thermostat in the description hmm. If ones out of an A4 will work ok I'll source a pair from that

will these work though? The oem ones have a built-it thermostat which is why you can adjust the setting on them.Leave a comment:
