    Odometer not working

Odd one, my Speedo works just fine but I noticed that my trip meter hadn't moved since the weekend and a drive today confirmed that the odometer is static also. Is there a drive that's broken or other?

I had similar problems, could be the plastic gear or the cold solder joints. VSS is rarely goes bad

Unlike an early water-cooled VW or Audi, e.g. 1986 Jetta 2, there is no speedometer cable between transmission and the instrument cluster on the B3/B4 and C4 Audi S-cars. There is a G22 Vehicle Speed Sensor as discussed HERE. As a result, if the speedometer is working but the odometer is not, then there is a problem with the odometer.

The mechanical odometers are based on electrically driven gears. One of the gears breaks, the odometer stops, just like the old mechanical speedo/odometers.

I am quite sure I have seen a thread with photos on this forum about changing the drive gears in a mechanical odometer.

There is a little white plastic gear that can break.

I think I have read that pressing the odo reset at just the wrong time when moving can break it. Also I am sure I broke one when I took the clocks apart to change the faces.

My trip meter and odometer stopped working this week. It was the trip meter button as i pushed it vigorously few times and it started again

Took it to bits and it was indeed this gear. Is there a UK supplier?
