Here's the piccy:
Ahh I can see its all one unit now. So the S2 central guide will apply and I have not the time to pull the whole lot to pieces. something for the garage meet.
Of course the rattle has gone since I removed the vents AND THE TOUCH UP PENS from the glovebox

It still rattled last night with the vents out. The touch up pens better be a red herring otherwise I will never be allowed to post again and get sensible advice
Its just it failed to rattle this lunchtime after I stuck some tissue between pens in box !!!!!!!!!! however it did not come back when I removed the tissue.
I think I will go with Jason's idea. Now where did I put that expanding foam
What would we all do if the cars never had a problem !!!!!!!!!
Only just seen all this, the centre dash thing comes out easily as all mine is out now... Worth also checking for stuff thats fallen out behind the ashtray, i found all sorts behind there in mine, including an RAF badge for the original owner of the car!
Incidently, that centre dash part, Audi have in stock too cos i enquired before i started doing my screen install, just in case

Its sorted no35 that rattles. I guess it just slots in so I dont know what adjustment is possible.
But the rattle returned tonite which was solved by pressing on the vent. So the pens were a very red herring

Right the rattle is back and no it is not the pens. The area is the central dash in front of windscreen vent which is not the cause.
Pressure on the area stops the noise and it is more marked in warm weather.
So Martyn what is under the front dash ? 7f/e on diagram. Could it be the windscreen or an ill fitted passenger pollen filter.
If I remove the central vent can I access the area or do I consider a central consule strip down.
mine has exactly the same rattle as well as a creaky dashboard when the weather is warm, guess mine was put together by the same person as yours at the factory!!!
Alastair, here's the picture. See where the blue arrows are, they are under dash fixings that hold the hot air channel to the underneath of the dash. In the picture the 4 arrowed were broken on this dash so this one would rattle too! If you remove the centre 3 vents you will not be able to access anything, its not that simple. The only way is to remove the dash which is a PITA to do. I don't see an easy route to a fix......
Thanks a lot Martyn
Could you access this from the passenger air filter or the central dashtop airvent grill if removed ?
The alternative is a hand up the back from the footwell ? or as the windscreen needs replacing could I access the area at that time.
As you can see i would rather not remove the whole bl**dy unit !!!!
Cheers
