    getting to rear speakers

    Hi,
    me again!

i'm having trouble getting to my rear speakers.

do i need to pull the wood trim as well?

pulled seat, rear bolsters, bottom trim, bit by door frame.

    what have i missed?

    Thanks in advance

    Phil,

Assuming its a coupe, You need to take a screw out on door pillar, the one on the kick panel near the seats.

Remove the seat bolters and unscrew the tweeter trim under the seat belt and remove the parcel shelf stops to lift that part off.

Underneath that is another screw, once that is off the door car should lift up and off

You can actually just remove the speaker trim without removing the whole rear card.
It's a bit of a delicate job, use a flat screwdriver to VERY carefully ease the speaker panel out from the card. It held on by small spring clip things.
As said, delicate job, so go easy with the screwdriver.
Or take the whole lot off as explained above.

Jas it was slightly different in the back of mine, all I had to do was twist the speakers to get them off the door card of is that the tweeters you are refering to?

Sorry Jas, just realised what you ment, with the speaker grille, I was thinking about changing the whole speaker.

Lol, nothing beats Audi for a bit of continuity eh Greg? .
One of mine died in the S2, rear passenger side panel. and it was held on from the inside of the car with screws, though yes, the replacement I got had slots to twist onto the door card.
It's not a huge job removing the rear panel, just if you do, make sure to mark up the posistion of the pin and bolt for the rear seat catch, as it can be a bit of PITA to re-adjust it (getting the seat to nice and easily click back into place).
You'll need an offset 17mm spanner and allen key for that IIRC.

                got to them, thanks!

i had missed the screw in the tweeter panel, but main thing was brute force to lift it up!
have nokia's in there, twist fit.

ended up getting some MTX speakers thx502. they are 4 lug, but i will see how i get on!
oh, and the magnat rock 6000 amp.

                well, back to it!

good luck getting them fitted, On mine I cut the lugs off to make them twist fit and sealed them in place to stop vibration.

                    well its in and working

stil got some tidying to do, ran out of time , good job i am not trying to earn a living at it!

some fun and games along the way, and more fiddling with knobs and whistles to set up the amp needed but on provisional settings i am pleased!

the rear speakers are not at all wooly and are much better balance to fronts.

                    thanks for advice!

i too trimmed back the lugs and twist fit in to mount. no need to seal as it was all pretty tight.
ran power feed to amp through the fuse box in the end, there just wasn't any way in to the car from engine bay.

thanks again, will embelish further details later.
