Try have a word with hpmuirt (si) as he is well into these radio's i'm trying to find the housing out of a convertible for him atm.

I think he's away on business/holiday at present so you could try pm'ing him.

Cheers Pete, I think it was me who put him onto them a couple of years ago, he'd never heard them them before .
I seem to remember at the time he was messing around trying to get an original OEM unit to display frequency on the autocheck as they did on the continent.
I'll drop him a PM and see which he bought.

I'd settle for the Mexico but if I'm buying new I'll go for the Grand Prix as it has bluetooth. Not bothered about the Traffic Pro with it's satnav as I have TomTom One XL.
Cheapest I can find a Grand Prix 7992 in the UK delivered, is £253 all in.

Try these guys, i recently got myself a becker sat nav from them at a decent price, they don't list the radio you want but they may be able to get one.

Just got a Becker Grand Prix for christmas and fitted it in my 96 cab (don't laugh, I'll get an s2 some day.....)

really lovely head unit - looks so OEM and the build quality seems fantastic. I'll post up some pics as soon as I can.

Jas, do you have the plasma dials? If so then I highly recommend the blue display (bear with me..)

On the green becker, the buttons are green too - but on the blue becker, the button illumination is the standard Audi red. so if you get the blue, the buttons will still match all the OEM switches in your car and the display will match your plasma dials!

Of course, if you have not got the plasma dials then you don't have any blue illumination anywhere, so i'd have to say get the red becker.

Though it's personal preference in the end

I got mine from Pixmania.co.uk - £221.54 + £7 something delivery to NI. A great price, but they seem to have different prices for the different colours?? check it out, Strange indeed...

One thing to check tho if you fitted it to the convertible can you check if it still has the two little panels one each side of the headunit as this was the problem that si was having.

Yeah, it did already - at least I think it did.

I take it you mean little black bits either side of the headunit to fill in the spaces left by the OEM headunit?

previous owner had fitted a pretty horrible sony unit, so there were little black bits each side. becker seemed to fit between them exactly. when I get the pics up you can tell me if they are wrong!

Thanks for the links chaps, emailed berndigital and got a rapid reply, no luck though.
Weird about different colours being different prices eh?

Erm, no plasma dials, I love the warm glow of the standard colour, but appreciate the comments though

Will more than likely order one over the weekend as my alpine is starting to teeter on the edge of death (illumination failing, LCD bleeding and random tuning of the radio frequencies for no reason.)

A question if I might, to those guys here who have or have had Becker head units (DJ Roy, Papvas, RS2315)

Which of these matches the OEM dash colour the closest ??

                  1

                  2

                  TIA,

Sorry to but in Jas, but does that unit come with seperate cd changer or is the cd integral part of head, looks really good :mischeif: & not too fussy unlike alot of ICE on the market.
I love the taditional two button operation with that one.
No2 looks like a good match, but thats only by the pictures you have put up, always best to get a second oppinion from someone that owns one( not me ).

It has a CD/MP3/WMA front loader on the head unit mate, but you can get a separate disc changer

although the display on my grand prix is blue, the buttons are in red and match the OEM switches and buttons almost exactly. I'd say this red is the same as the red display, but as said before you are as well checking wit someone that owns one.

I really can't see it being different, and I cant see the amber one matching either!

Oh, I got the iPod kit with it and it plugs in where the CD changer goes - so its an either/or option. It just treats the iPod like a really really big CD changer......
It, like the becker itself is excellent.

Love the way the lighting on the unit brightens and dims with the dash lights control, and that it dims when the headlights go on. Fades up and down really nice! I'm funny about things like that, Never worked on the previous sony.

It's all sorted now, after a bit of a pain with getting it a switched 12v.

                        Well, Well worth it.

                        just my 2p's worth!!

You can connect it to your phones like a handfree kit.

On some phones you can play tracks from your phone thru your stereo.

I bought the red ones guys, number 2 above (the 7992).
Papvas confirmed via PM that he had a red one and the colour was perfect.
                              Should receive it Monday .
