    What's in your Boot?

I'm a big lover of I.C.E, not big expensive stuff just good sounds with Booming bass!

My question is what, head units, speakers etc etc are people running?

Who has pics? and how have people mounted amps within the S2?

Suppose i'm very very lucky to have Al's old front door builds and his rear 6x9 resin builds so i will within the next few weeks have some sounds to drive too

all I have done to mine is fitted Blaupunkt components in the back, standards up front. Pioneer cd/MP3 head unit and 12disc changer.

Amps wise i think doug has his mounted across the back of his seats, or you could put a build in where the spare wheel is, was thinking about doing that myself and putting an amp & sub into the recess but doubt i will bother now.

Nothing. Nada. Nowt. Zip. Not even the spare at the moment. Oh aside from the slightly wet spot where I missed the rear screen filler tube this morning.

Speakers = stock. Plan is to parcel shelf mount a couple of Alpine 6x9s when I get round to it.

Head unit = Pioneer CD/MP3/WMA(/radio) unit. With the various EQ settings it has there's enough to compensate for the stock speaker lackings until the Alpines and possibly new front speakers go in.

      Ck.

Pioneer head unit (has a tape!), with a boot-mounted Pioneer 12CD system.

I've got an Alpine amp driving an 8" sub enclosure. Both the CD changer and the amp are mounted on the rear of the back seats - they still allow you to fold them down if you want. I'm intending to put the sub in the well where the spare wheel won't be - I'm discarding my spare. I did think of putting the CD changer in the hidden storage bits, but it gets damp in there, so didn't want to risk it. With all that clap trap I can still get about 8 bags of shopping in, and there's room for 4 adults-worth of weekend luggage. The Sub is pretty small, I used to have a gorgeous 12" Alpine enclosure, but it was so big it was absurd. I do need some practical space.

I've got Kenwood separates speakers mounted in the sides of the passenger bits in the back, and an additional pair of tweeters alongside the rear parcel shelf. Kenwood uprated speakers in the standard enclosures up front. Did toy with the idea of doing a front door enclosure, but frankly couldn't be bothered in the end.

It sounds good - quality components always help, and pretty well balanced. I'm a bit of a hi-fi snob when it comes to Audio, so I'm not in to hugely booming mind-altering bass, but it's got to have some kick.

the other idea i have been toying with is one of these flat subs that goes under the seat of the car, doesnt produce alot of bass but enough to richen the sound up. Also the OE audi speakers seemed to have an odd impeadance and swapping them to aftermarket items has made a huge improvement.

I have a 10" HQ Kenwood sub in a custom built sub box for the spare wheel well stared by Sienna and finished by myself. A pair of Kenwood speakers in the front dash posuitions, tweeters along side in the air vent grille apertures, standard speakers in the rear, all running off a 4 channel Kenwood PS401 amp mounted on a custom built boot floor build made of MDF.

This weekend I am planning to finish the boot by mounting the amp using a carpeted false floor to make it flush and having integral lift up doors for the rear and side cubby holes in the boot. The CD changer will then reside in the rear cubby and my 1 litre emergency oil etc will fit in the side cubby.

            Photo's to follow soon....

P.S. Anyone know where to buy some good quality boot carpet for this purpose???

i've got original Alpine kit in mine off the optional extras list - told to leave them well alone when i was thinking of upgrading them - they do sound excellent for 12 yr old units and a Blaupunkt Alicante single cd. Most of the time listening to the 5pot player in the bonnet

Im running on a mp3 panasonic head unit, stock speakers apart from back shelf, where i have 2 huge sonys which i dont know the size of, i just know they bog and loud... also have a massive base tube with pioneer fancy speaker in it. Powering these base devices i have 2 amps, one on each seat (screwed into back of seat) and mounted so the seat can fold back, same setup as on all my audis ive had.

alsi in the boot i have my whole garage.. which is basically a bag of tools.. im still used to breaking down every 30 minutes but the s2 dosnt.. but im still used to my original £400 audi 80 1.8 q. also 2 emptie speaker boxes to stop it all moving about.. do it yourself job but does the trick.

I have loads of room in my UrS6 for stuff.
It was a bit of bother fitting Alpine 6.5" fornt components into spaces for 4" speakers..
It was easy to fit 5" components into the rear shelf speaker enclosures..
I have a Phase Linear Aliante 10" subwoofer (which is bleedin heavy) in a sealed box made to PL specs.
I have 2 Phase Linear amps (one for the front components, one for the sub) and an old kenwood amp for the rear components.
I have an Alpine CD head unit, connected to an Alpine PXA-H600 DSP (for time alignment and phase correction), which is in turn connected to an Alpine 6 CD Changer via optical so I can use the twin Burr-Brown DACs in the DSP for the best sound possible.

The only issue I have is that the standard Audi Aerial is built into the rear demister and is crap.. I have bought an electric Hisrchmann Aerial, but haven't fitted it yet.

I dynamatted the front doors, but I don't know if it has made much difference..

Why do people put 6x9's in there car, they are an awful speaker to use!!!

Far better putting good uprated components in the car and a sub for the base...

For starters how many top end home systems have oval speakers?!?!

I'm running a sony cdx-m9900 (my new toy) headunit with a 10 disc in the boot. Magnat 6.5" components in the front doors and 2 x 10" magnat subs in a vented box in the boot fed by a magnat amp.

Next step is to fit a dvd player so passengers can watch dvds on the headunit, fit a new amp for the subs and move the current amp to front components.

I may upgrade the rear speakers at some point (the woofers are blown so they're not connected) but I don't sit in the back so it's not high on the list.

Im gonna be nicking every single head unit and set of speakers from all your cars now i know what you all have!! LOL Only joking.

The Coupe doesnt lend itself very well to big installs. I have a Kenwood 2 x50w RMS amp powering a 10" sub in a box, using stock speakers. Would love to ditch the stock speakers as they are rather useless, but like Martin said, i have been playing with my other stereo
