  • Help me hide an amplifier

I've just purchased an Alpine V12 MRV-F450 (http://www.alpine.com.au/products/pr...ID=99&search=1), and now have the task of hiding it in my '96 coupe.

Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated.

    First off, the dimensions (L x D x H) are:
    420mm x 68mm x 247mm
    (16-7/16" x 2-11/16" x 9-11/16")

I'm getting worried that this beast might not fit discreetly enough

Well I didn't so much hide it, as put it on display. Here is my write up:

It was the only way I could see to do it and make it look decent!

    Good luck.

    Cheers,

      Nice setup. But...

      Hey Steve,

Yep I made sure I searched before posting, and it's gotta be said - your setup is awesome

However, my coupe really has its work cut out for it in terms of carrying stuff in the boot. So, I'm looking to have a setup which retains as much boot space as possible.

It would have been great to set it up beneath the hinged section in the boot, but after quickly measuring the space yesterday, it wouldn't allow for the hight of the amp. I'm going to investigate this further today.

Another desireable option would be to mount it beneath a front seat - does anyone have any advice/experience/knowledge about this? I haven't even checked if it will fit yet

I found a link of a user's car (I've forgotten their username) here on the forum, and quite liked their setup:

It will be great to be completely rid of the factory stereo.

I don't remember the dimensons of my amp in my coupe but i had it in the rear passangers "door". If you take the factory speaker off the is a lot of space there. Plus the power cords would be short from the battery.

That is if the amp will fit there.

I have my amp screwed to the rear of the seats in the rear. must be a strong housing then, since exposed to everything in the boot...

              My plan...

I did think about mounting it to the seat. However, I'm wanting to conceal the amp as much as possible.

I'm going to mount it on brackets in the rear compartment of the boot, next to the spare wheel. The amp is too high to sit flush with the floor of the boot, so I'm building and carpeting a raised box which will sit upon a cut out of carpeted MDF, replacing the existing carpeting in the boot.

This is just a plan and could very well change. But if it works out, I'll make sure I upload some pics.

Too big I'd need something crazy like 27" rims to get away with something like that
