I have just realised the speakers I have don't have that bridging connector. Guess what I chucked them with old speakers with the connectors. I'll make up a connector see what happens. Thanks guys

well a final update. i made up some nice neat connectors. Plugged it in nowt. Had spent a couple of hours making some alpine speakers fit using the original fixings.
I left the factory speakers plugged in for a few days and all of a sudden realised they were working???
I can only assume there was a duff connection on the iso connector. I have replaced this and today finally put all my trim back in.
Fully working speakers makes monkey a happy boy. Sad i know..

So it was the ISO plug at the back head unit causing the problem? still the Alpine speakers will sound at lot better than the old, tired oem's

looks that way. i must admit i was pleased how i got the alpine ones to fit without damaging the cards. my reason for wanting to stay standard was to avoid more wires running round the car.
i can't really hear any difference. i had the foo fighters on volume 20 today and sounds good enough for my taste.
when i bought the car it had some component speakers in with some sort of cross over thing that kept hitting the ginner panel when cornering hard. Im happy with the factory fit and sound .
