400lbs x 8" long, will take pics later,
see my crude drawing of how i did it

            took strut apart

            cut platform off

got threaded sleeve slide on fit for strut OD

            weld on round the bottom

2 C nuts one is the spring retainer the one below is the locking nut

            re assemble shocker in strut

            slide new spring over

put top mount on as usuall with new spring top retainer

              AutoCad??

Ok, I get the pic. You welded it in place - does that mean they are steel collars? Won't that rust like "the-hot-place"??

                  yeah steel threaded seamless tube

probably will rust but how often are you planing on adusting them? you could get the paint blasted off the bottom of your strut and then get the whole thing electro plated

the aluminium C nuts are already anodised i think (well mine havent gone crappy yet) either that or they are high qualitly aluminium

i just sprayed my threads with waxoil

How did you cut the orginals? The rears are easy but the front has a "arm" and I was talking to one specialist here in Finland few years back, he wanted to use mill to cut it, makes even and straight cut, and the front strut is impossible to put in a mill.

To the orginal question, it sell SPRINGS to coilovers, not full systems.

i didnt go anywhere near the arm, i hacked off the platform, then tidyed up where it was welded on (which is much higher than the arm) with a grinder/flexi disc

i wanted to put it in a lathe to turn it off - dont get the advange of milling it off

my bad, mixed up mill and lathe, of course lathe is used for cutting, sorry.

The problem was the balance or lack of it when the front strut is mounted on the lathe.
