    Koni's

    Guys,

I am fitting Konis this weekend (already have H&R springs). Any tips on setting up.

    Cheers.

I have replaced my springs with standard OE RS2 springs and adjustable Koni''s all around with QRSport top mounts and new OE rubber bushes.

The car feels great and like new, but I now realise that I could put up with a bit more firmness. Next service I might try fitting powerflex/superflex bushes and maybe tighten the koni's a little.

It doesn't matter which way up you try this..... Konis/H&R's, Bilstein/H&R's, the "Cup Kit", Coilovers, whatever. It will NEVER be satisfactory on all surfaces.
For want of a better description, my setup at the moment is "Tarmac Racer" (sorry, couldn't think of a better description) and it sits low with little travel and very firm. I had cause to go over the moors at Holmfirth earlier this evening and found i was getting bent out of shape on the very "yumpy" moors road, enough to cause me to back off. You need to decide what you will be using the car for primarily and set it up for that.
The vehicle manufacturers are not that ignoranty, they have invested countless hours and substantial sums of cash in developing suspension and the whole thing is one big compromise. When a manufacturer (dealer) sells a car, he has no idea at all as to who is going top use it or for what purpose. A motoring journalist could well take the latest Jaguar 'round a test track at high speed and call it "impressive, awesome, firm" etc. and your uncle Tommy could buy the same car and call it "wallowy, unresponsive harsh" etc. Why? Well the journalist is on his own and weighs 140 lbs. Your uncle Tommy could have invited four of his overweight mates out for a golf trip, five sets of clubs etc. in the boot and five big fellahs' in the "cabin" all weighing 250 lbs plus, you get the picture? (i am not saying here that Jamo weighs 250lbs plus, merely intimating it:-)).
So, car manufacturers face an impossible task, all weights, all surfaces and all uses. Here you have a big advantage, you pretty much know your driving habits and can plan for those. Don't ask me which combination though as i personally tried three different combinations until i found one that i was happy with and suited my driving style. Besides, the Konis on these vehicles are adjustable all right, as long as you dismantle the suspension, again!

I'm running stock springs with Konis on my coupe, fronts at 1 turn in from soft and rears 1/2 a turn in from soft. For me its the right balance for the roads I drive on, (mostly surrey/sussex rubbish). With the rear at 1.5 turns in it was horribly slammy at the back.

Depends on the lowering level you want as that set will only lower an S2 by 20-25mm(once settled) It is a complete set and they are what I am looking at for my 7A.

My neigbour runs a 220 charged saxo on these everyday for work and a hard pounding for the track at the weekends and has never had a problem as they are - adjustable. WOO HOO.

You can no longer buy Koni shocks and springs combination for the S2 they stopped making them in 2003 Audiman got the 2nd to last ever set produced.

Only the shocks are now available.

The only real choice of Lower spring is H&R which is a 30-40mm drop

Did i mention i've got a set of koni springs?

Like to see where they get them from!, email Koni and they'll tell you non in stock and not produced anymore (as indicted on the koni website and catalogue)

Search the forum theres a few big threads on this already.
