    power steering leak...

    Hello every1

it seems that my small leak problem is developing into a bigger and bigger leak problem.
From the picture my leaks comes from the pressure linked hose on the far right that comes directly from the power steering reservoir.Smaller leaks do seem to come from the other 3 hoses but mainly from that hose.

Anyone knows the part numbers for these hoses so i can order them from audi?Or are there any such hoses that can be used as aftermarket kits?

    cheers
    Vasilis

go to any hydrolic place that do hydrolic pipes and get them made to the size you want . a lot cheaper than main dealers .

are those actually made anywhere?how about the one that is securely clipped on the plastic piece? The one that i mentioned that is leaking. It is a return hose, and can this be replaced with any hose secured with a clip rather than that pressurised thing there?
      cheers

if you squeeze the pipe can you press it in ?is it soft ? if you can then its just a rubber pipe . if its solid then its a hydrolic pipe and has to be the right one . why has your car got the plastic piece in it ?

have you seen the pic?i think this is standard on the RS2 and all hoses are squeezable. The thing is that the one that is leaking seems to have the different fitment on the plastic distributor of the hoses rather than a regular clip which i can just screw a little bit stronger. So i cannot do anything with that hose now that it is leaking because it seems to be pressure fitted on the plastic distributor to the other hoses.
However if this has no special significance, then i can just replace that hose with any other hose and have it clipped on the plastic distributor and the other hoses with a screwable clip and get it over with.

looking at the pic it dosen't look like a high pressure pipe .high pressure pipes are normally swaged . i think you will get away with a good quality oil pipe if its on the return side .

ok thanks volcano!this makes it a lot easier.
Have you ever tried to pry open the certain hose?Is it stuck on the plastic distributor?Am i goint to brake it by trying to remove the whole thing out?And also is it going to be usable again after this?
              thanks

Three of the clips are easy to undo but the one going to the right is swaged, if you are really careful you can cut it with a junior hacksaw and then pry it apart with a screwdriver being careful not to go through to the plastic part.
I do wonder if the fluid is leaking at the plastic part anyway? I would replace it, if you can get one, and replace all the clips with good quality screw types.

audi doesnt seem to provide the plastic part as a separate part.It has a part number which calls it 'return hose' and i assume that it is given along with the plastic adaptor. All i have to do is get that part and then reconnect the rest of the hoses that have clips, replacing them with screwable clips which are far better, right?

get rid of the plastic pipe and make one out of steel . it will never break again.
