    H&R's

Hi lads, have a quick one for you
I have h&r's with konis for more then a year now and decided that I wona go back to standard springs, questions are

    1. Can I use standard springs with konis, if yes any adjustments needed?
    2. Will h&r's from rs2 fit aby coupe?
    Thx in advance.

    cheers

I'm running koni shocks on standard springs on my aby coupe, no probs.
IIRC "Alg" Alastair is running koni's on standard springs on his RS2.

Front H&R's will fit ABY coupe I think, but the rears defo won't.

Hope I got that last bit right.

Robo, I had exactly the same set up on my green one, other than I had a Miltek. Like yours it scraped over everything. Had to be carefull were I went.I remember getting stuck in a multi storey in Liverpool city centre. The barrier went down behind me, and as I got up a little slope as I got to the top it was clear I would get stuck were the ground leveled off.Had to leave the car and call to get the barrier lifted so I could back out I would puposefully plan a different route just to avoid speedhumps

By comparison, current one is standard suspension. IMO, it is a better feel than modded

If you do, I know an A3 owner that would like to buy your RS2. But I don't think she wants to part with her A3. But then, her A3 is even worse for ground clearance.

              Robo,

I think ScillyIsles and Alistair run standard springs with Koni's on their RS2s. I have stuck to standard springs and replaced the dampers and bushes with new OE items This was deliberate as I didn't want any ride height issues, having had this problem with my previous car. I have never had any ride height clearance issues and I think the suspension is spot on.
My wife likes driving the RS2 - she likes the performance. The only thing she ever comments on is that all the controls are much heavier than her Golf. This is good as it gives me a reason for her not to drive it more than I would like. With this careful restricted use policy she is always keen to volunteer not to drink when we go out so she can drive the RS2 home, which has its obvious advantages.:mischeif:

Yes GlynRS2 is correct I run Koni's on the front with standard springs and OE dampers on the rear with standard springs. I have no clearance issues. I did run Koni's on the rear but I think the rear ones I got were the shorter travel ones which caused pronounced bump steer. I've got Powerflex front and rear ARB bushes and the upper and lower wishbones on all four corners are new. The car drives like new.

                  I wanna do the opposite.

Is anyone running standard shocks with H&R springs? will there be an issue with this? (scraping), any info on this setup?

I run H&R's with RS2 shocks, no issues. I assume its the same with the Coupe.

H&Rs and Konis do make for a low, firm ride for sure - I don't find I have too many scraping issues, you just have to be careful over the myriad speed bumps (but then that's what they're for I guess to slow people down?!). I like the hard ride: yes it certainly is hard and boy does it show up how rank our tarmac is sometimes, but my wife actually prefers cars with firm suspension as she finds it prevents her getting travel sickness, which she used to get regularly in cars with "normal" suspension. Also I like my fillings rattling around in my teeth

                        1) Yes! Lee ran this configuration for ages.
                        2) No! The RS2 are more sprung than the Coupe on the front and they wont fit the rear.

Yeah I dont want the koni shocks as I dont want it to be too harsh. And Im thinking the rs2 shocks are firmer than standard s2. So Im trying to find if anyone here runs lowered HnR springs on standard shocks (not rs2 shocks).

I'm sure Jamo's right - with the spring rate on the H&Rs you'd definintely need a beefed up damper...
